The
earliest known member of our FIKE family- Daniel FIKE -
was born in Germany. He married Anna RUPERT and
immigrated to Kingsborough County, Johnstown, Tyrone
County, New York, United States 1780 - Arrived in
Montreal 1784 -Osnabruck Township, Stormont County (Settled
in Long Sault) MILITARY:
2nd Battelion, Kings Royal Regiment of New York The earliest known FOWLER family member is Samuel. He was born in Virginia in 1797 and married Margaret STOOTS in 1821 - Grayson County, Virginia. They can be found in the Carroll County VA Census records in 1950. Margaret died in 1866. I can't find any military records nor have I found anything linking Samuel to parents or siblings. I have a couple of leads on Margaret. She may be the sister of William and Rachel Stoots . These 3 people are the children of either James or John Stoots. James and John are the sons of Andrew Stoots who fought in the Revolution from Montgomery. Jacques Branchereau is the
earliest Branchaud ancestor. Jacques Branchereau was a
carpenter, born about 1631 in France. He lived and worked
near the town ofMacqueville, France. Jacques apparently
followed the custom of that time, and used the firstpart
of the family name "BRANCH" and appended the
last part of the village name "EREAU" to it. Henry Hollinworth is our earliest known Hollingsworth ancestor. He was born before 1610 and was alive in 1632 when he signed an agreement with Valentine- his son. Valentine was born in August 1632 in Balleniskcrannell, Segoe Parish,County Armagh, Ireland. Valentine's family was originally English and was probably among those who immigrated to Ireland as "adventurers", looking for opportunity to become landowners when the Ulster Plantation was established in Northern Ireland. Valentine became a Quaker while still in Ireland, and suffered true persecution for his faith. On June 7, 1655, Valentine married Ann REE, daughter of Ann and NicolasREE, in Lurgan Monthly Meeting, County Armagh, Ireland. They immigrated to America, following William Penn, in settling Penn.sylvania. Valentine was a Signer of William Penn's Great Charter. John J Coats was born about 1837. He died during the battle of Knoxville in the Civil War. He was in Company "G" of the 53rd Regiment of the Army of Virginia. He married Nancy Rebecca
Lawrence. We have not been able to link John to parents
or siblings. |
